Rooks are the Disrupter's super soldiers. They are actually cloned humans rebuilt as cyborgs with full body armour and devoid of personality and free will. For each particular mission the Disrupters programme each Rook with a set of orders that it will follow to the letter. They have difficulty formulating responses to situations outside their programme (an IQ roll each turn), but will eventually adapt.

The Rooks operate in five teams of five including a leader. This leader is far more adaptable and can designate a target via telepathy. All the Rooks can then use the weapon link. Aside from this designation only the leader can use its weapon link normally. Their telepathy enables instantaneous and constant contact with other members of the team. If one Rook sees it, all of the team will.

Each team carries a Trans Parallel Vehicle that is a pyramidal open structure twelve feet square. It can be dismantled and the components clipped to their body armour. Each Rook carries a heavy laser pistol.

The appearance of the Rook is humanoid, but with a flat snout and bugged eyes. Where they have appeared (and this is increasingly infrequent) Rooks are thought to be demons.
